Encyclia alata
Seedlings (grown from seed).
Species from Mexico and throughout Central America. Mature plants produce 2-3’ tall spikes with numerous, honey scented flowers. We have two sizes available: young plants in 2.5” pots (2+ years from flowering) and young plants in 4” pots (flowering size). Photo #1 shows an example of what the flowers could look like (please note that these are seedlings and no two plants are identical). Photo #2 shows an example of the size plants in 2.5” pots. Photo #3 shows an example of the size plants in 4” pots.
These grow well for us in our “Cattleya House”, which receives bright filtered light (2,500-3,000 foot candles) and is watered when the media dries.
